Are Fever, Vomiting And Body Pain Signs Of HIV Infection?

Question: Dear Doctor
I am asking this question again as i am in great anxiety.
I was doing a HIV TRI DOT Test in pathology lab around 11 months ago.The patients sample was positive for HIV 1.I did not took the sample from patient.I was just performing the test.I did not have gloves on.I just touched the HIV KITS and buffer solution with hand. The drop of serum was inside the kit well.I did the test 2 times. There was a superficial cut on back of my right hand which i got that morning at 9AM and then i performed the test at 1230.

Is there a risk of HIV Infetion? What suppose serum somehow touched the buffer bottle and then touched cut on my hand.Is there a chance of infection?
10 days after this incidence i got ill with fever, vomitings and body pain which subsided within 5 days..There is no problem after that.

I am asking this question again on this forum. Please revert asap.

Brief Answer:
No risk of HIV transmission

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for Query. Welcome to health care magic.
I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.I have gone through the details and can make out your anxiety.

There appears to be no chance of contact with infectious material/fluid by the given description.
Just touching the buffer bottle or the kit is not a risk. Moreover the cut is on the dorsum of hand and unlikely to come in contact with any Infective material. Also the cut is some hours old and not a fresh bleeding wound. The scab acts as barrier.
There is no risk of HIV transmission.

The symptoms are non specific and do not suggest HIV.
You can go for HIV Antibodies tests if you are still anxious about the episode .

You can get back for any clarification.
Thank you

I am anxious about the symptoms i got. Are you sure they suggest just a general stomach flu..Also in how much time HIV dies outside human body?

I dont want to go for any testing..Am i safe? Can i forget and move on..

Brief Answer:
Likely simple viral infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.

Yes.It is likely to be due to simple viral infection.
The chances of transmission of HIV by given description is nil.
HIV virus does not survive in the environment beyond few minutes.
In my opinion you are safe and you can forget the episode totally. You may not require any test.

But as you are still thinking about the same episode even after 11 months, it may be better for you to go for test and be completely relaxed with Negative test results.
The chances of tests coming positive is nil but test may be needed to relieve you from anxiety .

You can get back for any clarification.
Thank you
