I am so sorry to hear about these severe symptoms of headache and neck stiffness that you have reported. These are not recognized side effects of bacterium. Severe headaches and neck stiffness may be suggestive of an inflammatory process going on in the brain. If these headaches are severe and there is a fever I would recommend that you consider going to the hospital for evaluate. This would help us role out any possible infection/condition in the head that may cause these symptoms.
For now, I would recommend trying pains medications such as Tylenol and Ibuprofen at doses recommended by your pharmacist taken every 8hours to control these symptoms. Also, stay away from noisy and heavily lighted environments as they can worsen the symptoms.
In all, these are not see effects of bacterium. if you have a fever, I will suggest you go in for review in the hospital. If there is no fever, try above drugs. if there is no relief, I will recommend you make your way to the hospital.
