Are Headache, Slight Pressure In Head And PND Signs Of Anxiety And Stress?

Posted on Wed, 11 May 2016
Question: I have a headache and slight pressure in head with post nasal drip that has come and go for the past 3 weeks. I also been having nerve pain in my eyes, left arm and legs that has been happening for months. At my last checkup, I had a little low blood pressure. I have been told it could be anxiety and stress. Could it be that or something else?

Brief Answer:
Check for sinusitis, eye problems. See ENT Specialist

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,

I agree that anxiety and stress could partly explain the symptoms you are experiencing.

However, I suggest more needs to be done to be sure that you do not have an organic disease. Post nasal drip within the context of headaches deserves that sinusitis be excluded. It is important to consult an ENT doctor to get a proper physical examination and an X ray to be sure.

In case the sinuses are clear, focus could be oriented to stress or anxiety.

Have you been having issues with your eyes ever? If yes, a review from your ophthalmologist could be helpful.

You will need to check your blood pressure again a couple of times. Because in lot of persons, the baseline blood pressure is on the lower side. So the baseline value range needs to be determined before commenting on whether it's higher or lower.

However You really need to keep yourself well hydrated. Try to drink a lot of lukewarm water as it'll help you on the long run.

I advice you consult an ENT doctor first, get a X ray of the PNS to be sure of the status of your sinuses first .

Thanks and kind regards,

Dr Bain

To answer your question, I never had any of these issues before. Also what do you mean by an organic disease? Im trying to consume more fluids as well. Are my symptoms very urgent that I need to see a doctor immediately? Im very anxious about my symptoms as I have been told by doctors throughout my lifethat I am a very healthy person.

Brief Answer:
Not too urgent to see Dr now, but imperative to see one afterwards..

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the follow up question.

Organic disease means any tissue or an organ being affected (like infection of part of the body, an abscess , nodules , inflammation , nerve irritation and several other conditions ).

Its not too urgent to see a doctor immediately, but you have to see one for a start. You need to book an appointment.

Thanks and kind regards,

Brief Answer:
Those rich in vitamin B 1,2, 6 and 12

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,

I think most brands are sold over the counter. Those containing a lot of vitamin B 1,2,6 and 12 are preferable. Most brands contain these and are sold over the counter.

Thanks and kind regards
