Are Headaches Indicative Of A Brain Tumor?
Question: Hi. my 6 year old has been having headaches on and off for 6 weeks. she know has another headache for two days,sleepy and a fever. Negative strep test. I am starting to worry this may be a brain tumor.

she has not had any labs or brain imaging. fever about 100.5 and yes she is sensitive to light

Fundoscopy should be done to look for optic disc swelling that could indicate a SOL.
Signs of meningism should be looked for on the physical in terms of meningitis. CSF examination would become necessary if that is the case. CBC and ESR / CRP should also be advised. Based on description alone, one cant rule it out.
Brain imaging such as an MRI Brain or CT brain can be advised if there is persistent vomiting of unknown cause.
She needs to be assessed urgently to rule out the above possibilities to be on the safe side. You may apprise your physician/ pediatrician of these causes.
