Are Horizontal Folds On The Scalp Indicative Of Cutis Verticis Gyrata?
I'm a British national currently working in Qatar. I have a son who is almost 15 years old. I have been cutting his hair since he was very young; however, over the past year, I have noticed a few horizontal folds at the back/middle of his head. So I googled to find out what it may be yesterday to discover a condition called Cutis verticis gyrata. I just wanted some guidance on how to go about getting him any necessary treatment. Which doctors specialise in this as in dermatology or neurology, etc.? Also, he's almost 15; therefore, would the condition worsen as he gets older? Any advice would be highly appreciative.
Thank you in advance,
A concerned mother.

Thank you for this response, but with this condition, does it usually worsen over time or can it also remain the same as he matures? Also, what type of surgery is available for this condition? Thank you again.
Treatment is not required at this time!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
He for real has Cutis verticis gyrata. It is very minimal and needs no treatment at this time. Unless these become even more numerous and disfiguring, there is no need to do anything. Should in future this becomes concerning for cosmetic reasons, surgery would be the best approach.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Often stable over time!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It rarely worsens. Surgery involves reducing the excess skin on the head so as to reduce too many folds.
Hope I have answered your query.
