Are Lung Nodules A Sign Of Lung Cancer?

Question: my husband was found to have 2lung nodules 3 weeks ago after having a chest xray for a respiratory infection. one 11mm the other 7mm. He is having a ct scan soon. im worried this is lung cancer as he smokes and has lost 10 pounds in the past year however has not lost anymore in the past month or so. I am afraid he is dying or something. does the size of the nodule if it is a primary cancer have anything to do with what stage it is? would the xray have missed a larger mass?
Brief Answer:
CT scan of chest is a must
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Any lung nodule equal to 20 mm or greater is suspicious of cancer.
Since your husbands lung nodule in x ray chest is is 11 mm and 7 mm i do no think he has lung cancer.
As he is not having any symptoms such as bleeding in cough, any swollen lymph nodes and is not loosing weight past month there is nothing to worry.
However CT scan of chest is a must to rule out any lung cancer.
