default
Posted on Mon, 20 Apr 2015
Question: Dear Dr Matin, I had some risky exposure. In which I had oral and once vaginal penitration of 5-8 seconds. Before oral sex I use to clean the area with dettol spray. I had also used protection every time. Accept one as I shared before for 5-8 seconds. My last encounter was in the month of April 2014. After 5 months I did my first HIV test (tridot ) came negative. Again after 6 months I did my second test (elisa 4th generation ), that also came negative. And my third test( immunochromatographic test) I did after 8.5 months, that also came negative.
1.My question is that are my tests conclusive or not.
2. I m facing some health issue like loose thick stool once a day and weight loss of 1.5 -2 kg in last 6 months. After I took tonsillitis treatment of 10 days, medicine -amoxcillin
3. Anal itching not persistent.
4. HIV anxiety
5. Showed myself to many Dr, all of them said I m clinically OK.
6. Cannot convinced by my test reports.
7. Already did 5 cbc test, all came normal accept 1 in which my wbc was low 3200 , at that time I was suffering from choked nose abd throat problem. After that only I decided to go for my frist hiv test.
8. If a person is suffering from any immunity problem, how much time antibodies takes to develop. ..
9. Is elisa 4th generation is able to deduct hiv when a person is having immunity problem.

Kindly address my query. Also do not share my email ID on your website. I will be obliged if you do this for me.

Brief Answer:
You are a HIV negative person !

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question I am Dr Matin and will be answering your questions.
Let me answer your queries in sequence :
1.Your tests are very conclusive as you have tested negative @ 5, 6 and 8.5 months of exposure which is beyond the XXXXXXX window period of HIV ( 3 months )
Window period is the the time gap between introduction of HIV and production of sufficient antibodies to produce a positive result.
2.HIV can't be diagnosed on the basis of symptoms alone without the substantiation of a positive HIV result.
3.Anal itching may be due to local hygiene or hemorrhoids and as stated above, HIV is not diagnosed on the basis of symptoms.( you can see a surgeon for this problem)
4. As explained there is no reason for HIV anxiety as three of your reports are negative beyond the window period .
5.All of your doctors are correct when they say you are absolutely ok.
6.There is no reason why you should not be convinced . We have talked about the the disease transmission scientifically and you should be convinced .
7. Your one CBC was towards the lower side which mean nothing and this could have due to other concurrent viral illnesses which you have stated already.
8.It is difficult to answer this question as no studies have been done in such area of interest. Here persons with immune disorders have well been covered in the window period of 3 months for HIV
9.Yes, these 4th generation tests are extremely sensitive to pick up positive cases even with immune disorders.
Hope this is useful.
Regards
