Are Occasional Heart Palpitations Despite Having Normal EKG A Cause For Concern?

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Sep 2015
Question: If I can workout, excercise, and run with no issues can I rule out heart issues? I have been having issues lately based off suspected health issues I have with my heart and my fears come suddenly in certain situations and I have heart paputations . I've seen a doctor who did an ekg and blood test and x-ray. All was normal. I don't have any other issues besides occasional heart paputations that I notice. Would I see more serious symptoms if it was my heart or something else?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

You are right if you have a more serious cardiac problems you would have experience other symptoms (other than palpitations).

Since the examinations you have done (especially the ecg) were normal you shouldn't worry about palpitations for the moment. Only if the palpitations will persist or become worse you should do the following examinations:
- Holter monitoring
- Cardiac echo
- Thyroid hormons
These examinations are essential for the evaluation of patients with palpitations .

Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!

Brief Answer:
I'm waiting for the ECG to be uploaded.

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Normally the heart activity is recorded on ECG on a 10 milivolt amplitudes. However different persons have different voltage on ECG records. In most of the cases minimal voltage for LVH isn't a disease but a variation of the norm.

However before giving my opinion I would like to check your ECG by my self. Can you upload your ECG for me?

I'm waiting for the ECG to be uploaded.

Brief Answer:
Can you please upload the complete ECG (ECG image included)?

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Unfortunately you haven't uploaded the entire ECG (you have uploaded only the interpretation part of the ECG).

It's essential to have the ECG image in order to evaluate that the low voltage is a variant of the norm (and as a such you shouldn't worry) or it may be a warning sign for cardiac problems.

Can you please upload the complete ECG (ECG image included)?
Meanwhile, wish you health!

Brief Answer:
Following advice...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

The pain may be related to musculoskeletal problems, which are very common in summer.

Musculoskeletal problems may be related to profuse sweating and electrolyte / dehydration that follows.

Another cause for your symptoms may be viral infection.

However in your case i would recommend to use Tylenol or Advil to relieve the pain.

Wish you health!
