Are Red Stringy Substance In Stool And Mucus Indicative Of Parasites?
For how long has this been going on?
Detailed Answer:
Hi am thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this these red strings that you found on your stool. The immediate answer is that this in no way represents an abnormality or any disease condition. My advice at this time is to monitor only and see if this persists. I am pretty convinced this would be a transient observation and would clearly resolve all by itself without the need for any further medical intervention.
If this fails to disappear, update me. Otherwise, I am going to be more passive than aggressive at this time. However, if it persists I am going to recommend testing.
I hope this addresses your query fully. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
I have periods of constipation with lower quadrant abdominal pain which is localized more to the back where I can feel almost a "Knot" I also have very noxious smelling stool and flatulence
Also I have seen what to me looked liked a white worm which someone told me was probably just mucus but mucus is not solid in texture usually. I have also noticed egg like casings filled with powder like yellow material.
Please advise
I will recommend that you get your stool examined in the laboratory!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this follow up information.
I have reviewed it fully. Though am not convinced this is suggestive of a parasitic infection, I will like that you get a stop exam. This would provide definite answers about this. Treatment or reassurance would be offered accordingly depending on the results of this stool exam.
A primary care doctor can order these tests. I will advise that you do not get too bothered. There is nothing very troublesome at this time that you should be scared of it degenerating into a more concerning condition.
Let me know if this is something you would want to try at this time.
