Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be related.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Gemfibrozil is unlikely to give side effect of red sore tongue with sensation of peeling of gums and tongue. Possibly it is due to vitamin B deficiency. In such a case, application of Clenora gel topically and taking Vitamin B complex supplements for a week or so should provide relief.
