Are Screenings For Tumours Required For A Patient With A Family History Of Cancer?
Question: Hellow,
I am a 31 yr old male (lean and healthy) with a strong family history of cancer.
My Grandfather (paternal) died of esophagus cancer;
My Maternal Grandfather died of CA Stomach;
My father is suffering with metastatic CA Colon since 5 years (moderately differentiated CA; with mutant KRAS)
My Uncle (paternal) just got diagnosed with CA Urinary Bladder.
I wanted to know if I should get myself screened for any tumor markers or do any imaging tests. And what precautions should i take. Should i start taking some antioxidants?
My blood tests (cbc; lft; kft; TSH; Lipids) are usually WNL.

Hello,
Cancer which you described in your family warrants screening by colonoscopy starting at the age of 50 years.
If normal, it has to be repeated once in 10 years. Besides that, routine clinical examination once a year will suffice. Tumour markers are not recommended for screening purposes.
