Are Severe Anxiety, Blurred Vision And Excessive Thirst Signs Of Diabetes?
I am going for blood tests next week but in the mean time i bought a glucose monitor and the results were as follows.
Fast 5.5
One hour after eating lunch 8.9
Two hours after eating lunch 8.2
Four hours after eating lunch 6.2
I think these seem high and not going down very quickly however my doctor says these are all in range. I would be grateful for any advice
Glucose levels
Detailed Answer:
They are certainly not alarmingly in the short term.
I recommend doing a test called HbA1c. It does not require fasting and can be done at any time of the day.
It gives the average glucose reading over the preceding 3 months.
This test will indicate whether your blood glucose levels are normal or elevated above the normal range. In the latter case, it will give yo a fair idea whether you have diabetes or pre diabetes.
The glucose monitor you used is helpful but not accurate. Even the HbA1c is not 100% accurate but still preferred over the glucose monitor.
The gold standard test is the 75 gram Oral Glucose Tolerance Test. (OGTT). You may wish to request your doctor to consider prescribing it
