Question: My 3 yr old granddaughter has eczema. In this hot, summer weather, I have recently noticed small circle spots on her skin that are lighter in color than her normal skin color. We do put sunscreen on her when we play outside. Is this a symptom of eczema or is something else going on? She is Hispanic-African XXXXXXX

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Going through the description it rather seems to be a fungal infection. However, things would be clearer if you could upload an image of the affected area(s). You can do so using the facility on the upper right of this page.
I would wait for your response and based on the inputs would guide you accordingly.

Brief Answer:
She has a condition called pityriasis versicolor
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. I have gone through the attached images. Your granddaughter seems to have a condition called pityriasis versicolor, a fungal infection. You may try applying clotrimazole lotion over the affected areas before bedtime for about two weeks at least. If the improvement is not significant, oral antifungal agents like fluconazole might be required.
Hope that helps.
