Are Small Red Itchy Spots On Hands And Legs Signs Of Chicken Pox?
Question: My 6 year old daughter has small red itchy spots, started on the top of her hands and feet - spreading up her legs. a little on her trunk. They are not blisters. No fluid. No fever. They do itch though. Otherwise she feels fine. She has not been vaccinated. She has not had chicken pox. I see no spots on her face. Over a week back she was diagnosed with strep throat and given antibiotic and she feels great otherwise. This just started so I doubt it is related. No new soaps or perfumes or foods either.
Brief Answer:
Rash
Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
What you are describing is most consistent with a viral rash. Typically these begin as red spots, sometimes itchy, sometimes not itchy. They last between 1-2 weeks and then resolve. They are not contagious, even though they sometimes look like they are.
If she is itchy and it is difficult for her to handle that, you can use an over the counter anti itch gel. Otherwise, there is nothing else to do.

would an antihistimine help her itching?
Also, you said it isn't contagious, right? Is it ok for her to go out in public?
Thank you so much for your help.
