Are Sneezing And Cough In A Child A Cause For Concern?
Question: My daughter is 5 months old. Birth Weight : 2.65 kg Current weight : 7+ kg
1.She sneezes and cough occasionally. We use ac during night and temperature will be around 25 c. We observed the same when she is under fan and she sweats in her head a lot even in ac.Why is it happening ?
2. Could we use mosquito repellents ? We have lot of mosquitoes in our city and it is really impossible to ward it off completely. Any other alternative methods. We use baby nets yet she gets bite when not in bed.
3.We heard the baby's immune system would start working from 6 months and mothers immune support will not be effective after that. She is still fed by her mother and our physician asked us to continue till 6 months.
What additional care should be taken after 6 months ? Vaccinations were given promptly.
4. She did not turn back and yet to crawl. But turning side ways. When can we expect the same ?

Brief Answer:
Your baby is doing well
Detailed Answer:
Hi....
1. Occasionally sneezing and coughing at this age is normal. Sometime dusty fan air can cause this.
2. Mosquito repellants can be safely used. But if you feel that her cough and sneezing sneezing are more when repellants are used.... Better avoid.
3. All vaccination given promptly is fair enough for the immunity to be building up against diseases. High protein diet and pulses are best food after 6 months age. Avoid nonveg protein till 12 months of age.
4. You can expect complete rolling over by 6 months and crawling 2 months or so after that.

Brief Answer:
Xymex doesn't help for white patches
Detailed Answer:
Hi...
1. Yours is vaccination fever - no relationship to your kid. Yours is not viral infection.
2. Xymex is enzyme preparation... It will not help white patches if its fungal infection.
3. A/c can used but keep cleaning the filter once in 15 days.
4. Optimal temperature is what the kid and you are comfortable... No specific recommendations.

Doctor, she has 102 F fever. Went to doctor and given suppositary.Fever came down. Did she caught from my fever? Even my vaccination fever didnt cross 100 F. Please advice
Brief Answer:
This could be a viral illness
Detailed Answer:
Hi.. This fever might not be because of you as vaccination induced fever is not contagious. This could be a stray viral illness causing fever.
If your kid is normal in between fever episodes in a single day...I don't think you should worry as its only 1st day of fever. Danger signs include breathlessness/ rash/ low urine output/ seizures/ unconsciousness/ blood in motion. Don't worry if these are not there & the kid is active.
