Are Sore Throat, Vomiting And Diarrhea Symptoms Of Hepatitis B?

Question: Recently I Was diagnosed With Acute Hepatitis b now i am recovering but i have a concern related my wife status when i come to know that i am infected i got my wife tested which came HBsAg non reactive and doctor give her first shot of vaccine now after 18 days she is feeling symptoms like sore throat , vomiting since last night and diarrhea i am really concern about HBsAg negative status how soon after infevtion we can perform blood test should we retest what test we can do for accurate result as she is recently recieve vaccine please anwer fast i am curious

The symptoms like sore throat, vomiting and diarrhea may not indicate she is also infected with Hepatitis B.

She has been tested negative for HBsAg and she has received the first dose of the vaccine. She needs to get the second dose after one month and 3 dose after 6 months.

If you are still worried about whether she is infected, you can get the following tests done for her.

1. Anti HBc
2. HBV DNA.

As far as your infection is concerned, seroconversion occurs in about 6 months. In about 5 percent of the individuals, the infection becomes chronic. After 6 months, you can check for antiHBs which indicates the infection has resolved.

You can avoid sexual contact till she receives all the three doses of vaccine. Alternatively you can use barrier methods like using condoms.

HBsAg is not the right test to do in these circumstances.
As mentioned earlier, Anti HBc and HBV DNA should be done to know if she has got infected.

One dose of vaccine is not protective.

And her anti-hbc is non reactive
