Question: I am 3 days late for my period, but all pregnancy tests have come back negative. My nipples are sore. I have a history of ectopc pregnancy. Could I be pregnant?

Hi,

Delayed periods can be due to pregnancy, stress or hormonal disturbance like hypothyroidism, hyper-propactinemia or polycystic ovarian disease.
If the urine pregnancy test and blood beta hCG levels are negative, then the pregnancy is ruled out.
Sore nipples are present in premenstrual period also, indicating that your periods will occur soon.

I will suggest you to wait for the periods for another one week.
If there is no period after one week, then repeat the urine pregnancy test, as sometimes delayed conception can be there.
If the test is negative, then consult an OBGYN specialist for proper examination, hormonal tests and ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis and get further treatment accordingly.

Thanks for explaining the possible causes of my late period. If I was pregnant with an ectopic pregnancy, would the hCG levels show up with a positive pregnancy test?

I’ve only taken urine pregnancy tests. So, those would show up positive even if I have an ectopic pregnancy? Thanks for all your help!
