Are The Bumps Indicative Of Herpes?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Feb 2015
Question: I understand the similarities between the bumps I am describing and herpes. My only concern is that I have been in a committed relationship for the past 2 years and the bumps have only been occurring since last year. Also my girlfriend has had a normal pap smear within the last 2 months. This is why I feel these bumps are friction related. Can this also be a cause?

Brief Answer:
PAP smear reflects the status of cervical epithelium and not the STD.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.

You had not mentioned since how long you had this problem and at what intervals you have this recurrences.

Still your problem seems to fit with Genital Herpes only and nothing to do with friction of the Jeans or your thigh.
PAP smear did not reveal the status of STD or Herpes. It reflects only the status of the Cervical epithelium with regards to any change towards cancer.
Even though both of you maintained your monogamous relationship for the past two years, any other relationship prior to two years related to either one of you could reflect as Genital herpes. It is better to skip in investigating the origin of the infection, concentrate on treatment and prevention of recurrences as per your physician's advice. You will be better soon.
