Are The Side Effects Of Tab Finax Long Term And Are There Are Any Issues In Long Term Use Of MX5?

I have been loosing hair since 8 years - identified as Male pattern baldness IV. I dont have any relatives with this problem though. I had taken medications through dermatologist 8 years back & 3 years back for few months. Last week again i consulted dermatologist; he has prescribed 1) MX5 soln 2) Tab Finax 3) Tab H. Vit forte 4) Dermaden shampoo.
I wanted to understand:
a) If i stop medication after few months, will my hairfall increase? (Last time i felt increased hairfall after stopping)
b) Are the side effects of Tab Finax long term? Is it safe to take? Or can i take other medicines & don't take Finax.
c) Are there are any issues in long term use of MX5? and is there a real possibility of hair re-growth?
Thanks
Hair fall will occur after stopping medicines, finastride safe to use
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Basically male pattern baldness has no permanent solution.
You need to continue with minoxidil solution till the time you want hair growth.
You will have hair fall 4-6 months after stopping minoxidil.
Finastride doesn’t cause long term side effects.
It is safe to use.
Sexual dysfunction is seen in very few patients taking finastride and it is reversible even on continued treatment.
If you want to avoid finastride and take other medicines you can do that.
Minoxidil doesn’t have any long term side effects.
It will definitely help in hair regrowth but needs to be continued for at least 4-5 months to see significant results.

- So basically stopping minoxidil does not accelerate hairfall; but the normal hairfall will continue?
- I forgot to ask doctor on the dandruff problem; not sure the shampoo given is for dandruff also.
Stopping minoxidil won’t increase hair loss
Detailed Answer:
Stoppage of minoxidil won’t increase hair fall but the hair fall will start as usual.
I would recommend you to use a shampoo containing combination of salicylic acid and ketoconazole ( kenz sal lotion or salisia KT shampoo) twice weekly .
This will help in resolving the dandruff problem.
