Are There Any Clinical Trails For Interstitial Cystitis?
Have you ruled out Chronic Prostatitis?
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Based on the facts that you have posted you seem to have been diagnosed to have Interstitial Cystitis (IC).
As such IC is known to be very common amongst middle aged females and very rare in males .
The pain while urinating and passing stools that you have may be due to Chronic Prostatitis and needs to be ruled out with relevant investigations .
I shall be happy if you can post me more details to help me in making precise comments
1) Has your Urologist done your Digital Rectal Examination (DRE) and what are the findings ?
2) Has he done swab test and culture of a urethral discharge collected after DRE?
I would suggest you to get these tests done to rule out Chronic Prostatitis as a cause of your painful bladder symptoms before you are labeled to have IC.
Unfortunately the precise cause of IC has not been established in spite of extensive research and studies all over the world.
The treatment mainly is concentrated over avoiding diet rich in Citric acid ,vit c and bladder irritants like coffee, chocolates carbonated drinks etc.
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
