Are There Any Interactions Between Sertraline And Carvedilol?

Question: No questions at this time. Just want to thank you for the most informative information I have found since I started it 10 days ago.

I am interested in the problems associated with taking Carvedilol 12.5mg bid and Sertraline 100 mg (family history of depression) ,both daily. Some information I find says there can be severe interactions. Had AVR 3 years ago at age 79. Dr doesn't feel there is a problem. I need both. What to do? Thank You. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Yes they have interactions
Detailed Answer:
Hello Ma'am
After going through the medical details provided by you I would like to tell you that yes both of them have interactions.
Sertraline increases the affect of carvedilol by decreasing it's hepatic metabolism.
We have two options
1. Either we can reduce the dose of Carvedilol or
2. Switch to an alternative of carvidelol if we want to continue Sertraline.
For this its advisable that you should personally consult your cardiologist for either reducing the dose or switching to different drug.
I hope this information will be helpful. Feel free to ask if you have any more doubts.
Kind regards
