Are There Any Naturally Occurring Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors For Fibromyalgia?
Question: I have been taking .50 mgs of Zoloft for my Fybromyalgia. I really want to stop taking this and am looking at homeopathic supplements. I have read of many, but one stood out 5-HTP. Do you have any recommendations of a serotonin based supplement, rather than synthetic, Zoloft? Thank you
Brief Answer:
Would not suggest a change in medicines.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Some medicines like serotonin reuptake inhibitors (I am not aware of availability) have been used but they are also synthetic in nature. I personally feel that if a medicine is working for you then there is no need to change the medicine unless it is showing some strong side effects.
As such fibromyalgia is a difficult condition to treat so I would not suggest any experimentation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further..

Hello Dr. I appreciate the quick response. Would you recommend acupuncture? I really want to get away from these medicines. Thank you
Brief Answer:
Yes.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
In my opinion, you can try acupuncture since there is no harm in it, but to continue with the recommended medicines initially.
