Are There Any Ways To Change Ovulation Dates?

Question: Hello Dr. XXXXXXX

I did not consult with any doctor yet.
My menstural cycle for last two months are as follows:
Jan-5
Feb-5

What i feel is i will get my ovulation now around 20-24. If i can get my period around feb 25 then i would be able to get my ovulation around those polarity dates which scientist prescribed. Date which i prefered to get my ovulation is around Mar7- Mar15.
If you can prescribe me with some medicine which will help me to get my periods earlier that is around Feb 25. That will be great.Is there a way to change the ovulation dates?
Preponing or postponing my periods will change my ovulation dates?

Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

Since you have 30-day cycles, your ovulation would fall on the 15th-16th day. Ovulation occurs two weeks prior to the onset of the next cycle.

It is possible to manipulate the menstrual cycle by changing the onset of menstruation, but not in one cycle. If you wish to attain a period on the 25th of February, you need to take hormones well in advance, i.e., soon after your last period. Also, ovulation cycle will be disturbed with such treatment and it may not be possible to get an ovulatory cycle immediately afterward. It may take one or two cycles.

Yet, if you wish to attain a period on the dates you mentioned, you need to take high doses of progesterone. You should see a gynecologist and after a clinical appraisal, get the prescription. It is possible to change the ovulation dates if you set the menstrual cycle on a different track.

Finally, I do not understand why should anyone want to alter the natural process of conception by manipulation with all the possible health hazards posed by unnecessary hormone therapy.

Hello Doctor,

Thanks for your reply. We are trying to conceive a boy baby since we have our first baby as girl. To make my family in a balanced state, we are just trying to get a Boy baby in natural way with no harm.We consulted IVF in which it contains lot of complications and medications and its not a natural way. So thought of following some natural way.
Is there a way that you can suggest us to increase the possibility to get conceived with Boy baby?

We are trying to follow one of the selnas method in which they gave some polarity dates of my egg cycle in which there is more chances of getting conceived with Boy baby. The Ovulation dates which i am getting now does not match with those dates that they have suggested. Thats why trying to alter my ovulation days for planning.

Genetic basis of the male partner determines the sex of the baby and often you find families with more number of women as siblings of the male partner give rise to more of female children and vice versa. Any of the gender determination methods are not fool-proof. There is a high failure rate.
