Are There Other Ways Of Reducing The Risk Of Gastritis Coming Back?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Dec 2024
Question: I am following up to your answer to my question ( I did not get a option for a follow up. Some problems with the website).
1) I am taking nexium 40 mg twice daily and it has helped. I hope it will fix my problem. Generally how long should I take it and how do I know when to stop.
2) I am thinking of zinc carnosine as a supplement to take on a continuous basis so that my gastritis does not come back. Your thoughts.
3)Are there other ways of reducing the risk of gastritis coming back.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Follow up.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for follow up sir,
Firstly gastritis is non curable but fully controllable problem. Its not a disease rather a life style problem related to anxiety, stress, etc.
1)You could practically take it for years without any practical side effects.
Don't read unnecessary stuff on google. They are very safe medicines and can be taken for a long period of time.
So if you think that 40-40 is helping you your motive should be bringing the dose to 40-20 mg then after few weeks make it 20-20mg.If you feel comfortable at this dose also then we could shift you on Ranitidine.
2)No long term studies to prove its efficacy in people with gastritis.
So it's totally your call if you want to take it you can otherwise no need to take. From medical point of view this treatment is not mentioned in standard text.
3)Life style modification is the only way.
Stop smoking or alcohol intake.
Eat light non spicy food.
No fizzy drinks or carbonated water.
If anxiety issues are there take medicines for it.
Do mind relaxing yogasana etc.
This would help to control it.
Thanks.
