Are These Symptoms Are Indicative Of Any Serious Medical Disorder

Question: Thanks for following up. After the heart palpitations I have not had any more. SINCE then now I have a wierd discomfort up my sternum, along the top of my left chest and pulses down the inside of my left arm under the pit. My chest and ribs are sore to the touch. This is not constant and comes and goes through the day, has been going on for 5 weeks now. Sometimes it even is up the right side and down the right ribs. Anecdotally, I think it gets better when I burp or relieve gas, as my digestion has been off as well. I have insurance that starts after the new year and am trying to wait until then to get everything checked out, unless you feel these are life threatening symtoms?
Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are not indicative of any serious medical disorder.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Your symptoms are not indicative of any serious medical disorder, considering the fact that burping relieves your symptoms.
So, it can wait until the new Year, to get some tests:
- a resting ECG and cardiac ultrasound
- a 24-48 hours ECG monitoring to help exclude cardiac arrhythmia
- a chest X ray study
- inflammation tests ( complete blood count, PCR, ESR)
- thyroid hormone levels
- blood electrolytes.
Hope you will find this information helpful !
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
