Baby Is Having Temperature Of 100-101 F (armpit), Congestion And Cough Since Yesterday
Question: Baby is having temperature of 100-101 F (armpit), congestion and cough since yesterday.
Brief Answer:
No need to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
These symptoms suggests a respiratory infection. Most of these are viral, and will settle in 3-4 days. If he is otherwise active and playful, we need not worry. Just continue giving Calpol and cough syrup. For 8.2 kg, you can give 2.5ml of Calpol syrup(250mg/5ml) 3-4 times daily for 3 days. Use saline nasal drops(NASOCLEAR) to relieve any nasal congestion.
If symptoms are not improving by 4th day or if he develops breathing difficulty/severe tiredness, we will need further evaluation and sometimes antibiotics too. Otherwise nothing to worry- stay relaxed.
I hope this answer will help
