Question: Been having PVC%E2%80%99s for 6 days. Took diazapam and they were less pronounced but still there. Xray done on lungs, chest clear. EKG caught PVC. Tried breathing techniques, exercise..nothing stops them. Have had them in the past. Feel light headed but may be anxiety. Heat outside aggravates them. Seeing cardiologist in 3 days. Not drinking caffeine or sugar. Should I try magnesium or baby aspirin? Blood pressure at clinic 149/98. At home 112/ 91. Could lower number be high due to PVC%E2%80%99s?

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service!

I passed carefully through your concern and would like to explain that it would be necessary to undergo through several medical tests in order to define a possible underlying cause of recent PVCs.

First, a review of PVCs amount and possibly more complex arrhythmias should be done. In this regard, an ambulatory 24 to 48 hours ECG monitoring (Holter) test is advisable.

As a second step, some function tests are recommended: thyroid hormones level; renal and kidney function tests; blood electrolytes level, a cardiac ultrasound to study potential cardiac structural and function disorders, to identify a cause of your PVCs.

In addition, if all result normal, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) should be done to exclude possible cardiomyopathy (like ARVD, etc.)

If everything appears within a normal range, then an anxiety disorder may be an alternative option.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above-mentioned issues.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
