Bloodwork From Two Days Ago Indicates IG Auto Is High

default
Posted on Thu, 22 Nov 2018
Question: Bloodwork from two days ago indicates IG Auto is high (0.4, reference range 0 to 0.3). Only other CBC item out of range is chloride (108, ref range 98-107). My symptoms for the past year, leg issues (pain, numbness, weak feeling, muscle twitche), extreme fatigue, sometimes seems like breathing is off, hoarseness at times, rare dizziness, blurry vision but not debilitating). I’ve seen neurologists who said they can’t find anything serious, but do find leg nerve damage. GP just keeps saying fibromyalgia but I do t believe that. Can you pls give a opinion? Also, is this totally private? I have one other bloodwork concern but don’t want my info shared publicly.

Can’t attach bloodwork at this time, but the only other out of range item was chloride (see orig question).
I take several meds for a mood disorder: lithium, lamictal, zyprexa, Wellbutrin, levothyroxine and liothyronin (low dose thyroid meds to augment md treatment). I’ve been on these meds for at leave 5 years and bloodwork has been stable.
My bloodwork also showed my lithium level increased from 0.6 to 1.5 with no change in dose. Psych has now told me to decrease dosage. I started taking curcumin 2 months ago for leg issues and brain fog so I’m wondering if that’s causing lithium level increase.
Leg issues and brain fog started about a year ago. Severe fatigue, dizziness and mild blurry vision started about 6 months ago. I also periodically notice mild urine leakage, hoarse voice and weird sensation when swallowing.
Family history of non-genetic breast cancer, stroke, and diabetes.

Brief Answer:
Dehydration, malnutrition, lithium intake as probable cause

Detailed Answer:
Hello back

Thank you for providing the requested information.

1. Increase in lithium level is due to lithium intake. It's common for lithium levels to increase while on lithium therapy. This explains why doctor decrease its dose.

2. Your chloride level is slightly increased. This might be due to dehydration. If you experienced recently diarrhea bouts, then it might be the cause. Not feeding properly can also cause slight increase in chloride.
However that should not be a problem.

Just drinking plenty of water and fluids, eating adequately will correct this change.

3. Leg issues are related to all problems for which you are under treatment plus a slight increase in chloride. Correcting respective issues will help ease leg problems.
Plus can take magnesium, calcium, zinc supplement to alleviate the symptoms. They have worked for my patients.

4. Urine leakage might be due to the overreactive bladder. That's because of high stress or anxiety you experience.
Managing anxiety can help. Plus oxybutynin use has helped.
Run urine analysis and check kidney function test to rule out respective infection or other problems first.

Discuss this with your caring doctor.

5. Hoarse voice if persistent should be checked with ENT specialist.

Hope that answers your questions.
Let me know if you have any other concern.

How are the leg issues related to what I’m being treated for? I’ve had the leg issues for a year? Also, my IG Auto showed up high on my labwork (see above). What does that mean?

Brief Answer:
MRI of vertebral spine, EMG studies to confirm neuropathy

Detailed Answer:
Hello back

1. Sometimes, anxiety problems are associated with pain and symptoms similar to neuropathy.
As long as your doctors didn't find anything serious, then it's not related to any organic damage. However MRI of the vertebral spine and EMG studies will confirm neuropathy.

2. High IgG auto is indicating that the antibodies are raised. That's not specific. We should know what subtype of IgG is raised. Different type of infection and pathologies would cause increase in different subtypes of IgG auto. For this purpose I asked to have a look at the test results myself.

Thank you.
