Question: Boil with pus beneath a root canal tooth (on the gum, just below tooth, second premolar on lower right). Pus keeps draining out and the boil flattens. But, it comes back again and this cycle keeps repeating. This has been going on since the last week of March 2020. I spoke to my regular dentist over phone, where I got my root canal done and said this is nothing to worry about, it is an infection and can last even for a year. He advised against physically visiting a nearby dentist right away, due to the pandemic. Should I be worried? Should I take some medication or procedures?

I have uploaded the image. Sometimes the boil is completely flat (after all the pus has drained), sometimes it is bigger than it is in the attached picture (with whitish pus)

There is nothing to be worried so much treatment plan for this consult your dentist for clinical examination and radiograph of this tooth. If radiograph reveals infection at apex of tooth then treatment will be re root canal treatment followed by medication.
