Brain Fog, Heaviness On Head, Fatigue, Difficult To Concentrate After Taking Probiotics. CBC And Thyroid Test Normal. Treatment?

Thanks,
Clindamycin is commonly known to cause diarrhea and certainly
C.Diff infection in some. You are telling us that you have been re-tested
for C-Diff toxin severaral times, hopefully by a reputable lab, and that
came back negative. IBS can follow any kind of infection. I want you
to make sure you are tested for Celiac disease. There are good blood tests
that can rule this out. Lot of people with this condition are not being
diagnosed. I am glad to know that your blood count and thyroid tests
were O.K. As for probiotics , there is still some controversy as to their
benefits. But the current thinking is they may help improve the good
bacteria that we need in our digestive system. I know there are many
products. What I have found , a product called "Digestive Advantage-IBS"
does seem to help. I don't own stock of that company that makes it !
Continue eating plain yogurt 2-3 times a day about 2 tablespoons.
If you have had a complete metabolic profile , that should cover all
the electrolytes etc.
Wish you good health.

However, my IBS has been present since 6 months and I have been taking probiotics and consuming yogurt daily for about 4 months. But right now I am more concerned with the brain fog issues that I am experiencing since a month and seem to have commenced after starting a particular multi-strain probiotic supplement. All the previous probiotics that I tried were single strain (L. acidophilus, B. Infantis(Align) and S. Boulardi(Florastor/Jarrows)). Hence I am concerned that I developed Brain Fog from one or more of these strains ( L. rhamnosus, L. helveticus, L. Casei, L. Plantarum, B. Longum, B. Breve, Lactococcus Lactis, Pediococcus acidilactici). I will have the metabolic profile again. Any specific advice on dealing the barin fog and related issues?
I am glad that your work up was quite extensive and
complete. For the time being I would recommend stopping
all the probiotic supplements for 1-2 weeks and see if your
Brain Fog issue clears or at least get better. Regular walking
three times a week and using relaxation CD's to sooth your
mind would be helpful. As I mentioned before if you can get
"Digestive Advantage-IBS", taking 1-2 tablets a day is worth
a try.
Wish you well.

I know that "Brain Fog" has been linked to lot
of conditions including Stress,Depression, Fibromyalgia,
Chronic Fatigue syndrome, etc,etc.
Try to cut back on caffeine. You can take high dose
vit. C (1000 mg/d) and 800 I.U. of Vit-E daily.
Continue excercising regularly and enjoy life.
You are too young to be thinking sick all the time.
Wish you good health.
