Bruises From Car Accident
Question: Bruises from car accident
I have really bad purple bruising what should I do it’s huge and I think it’s soreading, it’s from the seatbelt
Brief Answer:
Were you evaluated and examined after the accident?
Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using Ask a Doctor. First, have you been evaluated and examined after the accident? Are you having a lot of pain?
If you have already been evaluated, and are not having a lot of pain, I wouldn't be too concerned. It is normal for bruising to spread over the course of several days, and over weeks will eventually lighten and fade away. The main concern would be for a hematoma, which is a pocket of blood that forms underneath the skin, but even then, most of the time they will reabsorb without any problem.
I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any questions about any of that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
