Burning In Penis Anus After Urnation. No Blood In Urine
Question: Burning in penis anus after urnation. No blood in urine and 1.2 psa and dr said bladder is fine. Had a c scan that showed bph but said it was normal for a man that is 75 years old. Dr told me to come back in 6 months and if burning did not go away come back and see him. That has been two weeks ago and burning comes and goes. I’m afraid terribly with the thought of a cystoscope. Please help. What could be the problem

Brief Answer:
Cystoscopy is not required .
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .
I can understand your concern and apprehension about Cystoscopy .but I would like to state that no Cystoscopy is required to confirm diagnosis of Prostatitis .
There is one clinical entity called Non Bacterial Prostatitis where patiet has all the symptoms of Prostatitis but there is no positive evidence like bacteria etc detected in lab tests .
I am sure you will be fine with treatment suggested .
Relax and try to allay your anxiety .
Thanks and Regards.

But Dr I thought since there was no bacteria in urine that antibiotics would not work.
Brief Answer:
You need to do culture of a urethral discharge obtained after DRE
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .
Urine may not show bacteria .Ideally it is the culture of prostatic secretions that is obtained after doing Digital Rectal Examination (DRE) to confirm the infection of the prostate .
If you are curious to confirm the prostate infection consult your Urologist and request him to send prostatic discharge for culture examination to find out the organisms and their antibiotic sensitivity .
The antibiotics are prescribed as therapeutic agent assuming infection .
Thanks and Regards.
