Brief Answer:
Vitamin D defiencey & Marine 3 supplement.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Each Marine 3 supplement.capsule contains 1,000 IU of vitamin D3, Omega-3 fatty acids-300 mg of EPA(eicosapentaenoic acid,) and DHA(docosahexaenoic acid) from calamari oil (Calamarine), and 40 mg of an extract from brown seaweed (Seanol-P®). The extract has anti-oxidant effects and, has been authorized by the FDA for use as a dietary ingredient.
Vitamin D deficiency can be treated by the oral administration of 50,000 IU/week for 6–8 weeks followed by a maintenance dose of 800 IU/d (100 g/d) from food and supplements after achievement of normal plasma levels.A 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D level >20 ng/mL (50 nmol/L is sufficient for good bone health. your figure was 24 about 4 moths ago. Some experts advocate higher serum levels (e.g., >30ng/mL) for other desirable endpoints of vitamin D action.
Risk factors for vitamin D deficiency are old age;for people older than 70 years(you are 68 years), the RDA(recommended daily intake) is set at 20 g/d (800 IU/d).
Hence one capsule of Marine 3 supplement daily is suggested.
If you take Marine 3 supplement one capsule daily ,you have to stop additional Vitamin D 8000 IU daily.
Too much vitamin D (over 4,000 IU per day) may have negative effects.

Dr XXXXXXX what, in your opinion, what is the best supplement or medication that helps prevent dementia? My father had it and my mother has it now. All my aunts and uncles past 70 years old had it.
