Can Advent Be Stopped When Cold And Cough Is Cured?

Question: Hi - I have a history of getting severe flu infections in everry 3-4 months.
I had visisted a doctor @ Medanta on Thursday evening with v bad infection of throat and cold & high fever at 103. I had got cold and caugh only on Tuesday and had started taking Aziwok (doctor had prescibed a few times earlier) on same day and a decongestant. There was no relief and the situation worsened by Thursday. The doctor precribed the medicines mentioned below. My question is that I have got a great relief for both throat and cold but I am feeling v v weak and anxious/depressed (May be because of strong medicines or may be office stress).
My question is that could I stop taking Advent after 3 days instead of 5 days as I have relief from cold/caugh ? I understand we should not leave antibiotic course in between as the medicine then develops resistance But the pack of medicine is of 6 tablets only so I thaught the couse might be of 3 days also and if these medicines are very strong then why take extra strong dosages ? Pl advise if I can try 3 days course for Advent instead of 5? Thanks
Current prescription:-
Antibiotic is Advent for 5 days twice a day
plus Alaspan for 10 days at night
plus Calpol 500 mg for 2 days thrice a day
plus gargles, steam

Brief Answer:
I would advice you complete the course.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX ,
Thanks for the query.
If I were your treating doctor, I would advice you complete the course of Advent & other medication .
Medication dose given to you is according to your age/weight not strong .
Ideal course of Advent in your condition is 7-10 days twice daily.
Weakness is because of disease itself & you can take Calpol 500mg SOS .
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.
