Can Amlodipine Cause Anemia?

Question: Can amlodipine besylate cause anemia? I have taken it for several years but in Dec. a different company made the pill and the pharmacy changed it. I was fine before but now I have a sore stomach and am anemic with dark stools
Brief Answer:
it does not cause anemia
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
this is probably not related to amlodipine. Dark stools and anemia usually signify gastrointestinal bleeding. Urgent investigation is required starting with an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Peptic ulcer is the most likely cause.
Amlodipine is not supposed to cause either anemia or dark stools.
I hope you find my comments helpful!
Kind Regards!
