Thats what the rash looks like. It is only very slightly itchy, more so of a flushed heat feeling than anything else. Have taken Benadryll yesterday and today and took a oatmeal baking soda bath. Sumptoms seem to be relieved somewhat but not all the way. I was on Clarithromycin with Amoxycillin for h pylori. Doctor told me to stop both and gave me a steroid for the rash. I dont understand. Ive taken Amoxycillin before and was all right, although this time my dosage is 2000mg a day, 2 pills twice a day. Ive never taken the Clarithromycin before so i think that was the culprit but not sure. Thanks for any insight .
Brief Answer:
Clarithromycin is more likely culprit drug.

Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of clarithromycin induced rashes is more.
And you are improving with mostly benadryl.
It is having antihistamine drug. This is treatment of choice for drug induced rashes.
Amoxicillin at high doses can also cause skin rashes.
So it is very difficult to identify the culprit drug in your case.
Please let me know
1. Do you have any kind of allergies?
2. Do you have similar kind of skin reaction in the past?

No i have never had this sort of reaction to antibiotics before. The only minir issue ive ever had was on a 5 day treatment with Zythromax where i got a slight rash on my right forearm that quickly went away when i finished the drug. My doctor told me to stop both Clarithromycin and Amoxycillin and did tell me to take 2-25mg Benadryll every 4 hours. They also put me on Methylprednisolone 21-4mg pills for 6 days. Tapering by one pill a day. Is this Methylprednisoline safe? Are side effects bad on a 6 day treatmemt? Or are they just minor side effects? Thank you for your help .
Brief Answer:
No need to worry for side effects in 6 days tapering steroid course.
