Question: Hi I am a 56 y/o man with controlled glaucoma. I have begun testosterone replacement therapy through injection. I have also been placed on anastrozole .5mg a week and Tamoxifen 20mg per week. I know there is no risk with the testosterone. Do you think there is any risk taking the anastrozole and Tamoxifen with my glaucoma?

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,
Welcome to Health care Magic
Iam Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

It seems from the history that you are having glaucoma which is in well control with traetment. You are on treatment with Anastrozole and Tamoxifen and want to know the side effect of these drugs on intraocualr pressure and glaucoma.

Both Anastrozole and Tamoxifen either alone or in combination are known to cause increase in intraocular pressure and thus may cause worsening of glaucoma.
The other known side effects of these drugs on eyes is cataract.Hence it is advisable to get consultation with your ophthalmologist to increase the dose of the antiglaucoma drugs for raise in intraocular pressure, if it occurs during the course of treatment.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
