Can Beneflex Be Taken Along With Aspirin And Metropolal?
Interaction between turmeric in Beneflex&aspirin
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Beneflex is a natural product containing:
- UC-II® which is the natural collagen, part of body joints
- AprèsFlex®: is the extract from Boswellia serrata. The most important component is 3-O-acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid (AKBA). This is a potent inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX), a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes from arachidonic acid in an important cellular cascade.
- turmeric: contains curcuminoid, which is know for anti-inflammatory properties leading to lessened joint inflammation and destruction
- hyaluronic acid or hyaluronan : this is an important component of articular cartilage being present as a "coat around each cell".
After looking at each of the drugs you are using, I have noted that you are taking aspirin for atrial fib. Turmeric is also known for increasing the blood thinning effects of aspirin or other blood thinners. Thus, there might be a slight increased chance for bleeding if you would take Beneflex.
The rest is ok. I advise to run some blood tests before taking this supplement to ensure you do not have any problem with blood thinning:
- hemorrhage/coagulation time
- INR
- prothrombin time
- complete blood count
If everything is ok, then, can take this supplement. But,should repeat these tests after 3 months of starting Beneflex. You can also consult with your personal doctor!
Hope it helped!
