Posted on Wed, 19 Apr 2017
Question: I have never been unfaithful. However my husband and I tested positive for chylamidia. Does that mean my husband was unfaithful to me. Is there any way we contracted it other than thru sex. He us in the healthcare field (fireman/emt) and is exposed to nasty things at work.

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to spread by non-sexual route

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the bacterium, Chlamydia trachomatis. It is unclear whether chlamydia can be spread through touch to another person's genitals if there is infected semen or vaginal fluid on your fingers, or by rubbing female genitals together. However, chlamydia would not spread by methods other than sexual. In other words, it is likely that your husband has been unfaithful to you. Please ask him for an explanation directly.

Could you please tell me about his nature of work?

My husband was a fireman/emt and worked in ER. I know he ran on many medical calls.

We were also going thru fertility treatment at the time and I often had vaginal ultrasounds performed.

My husbands field of work had him going on many medical calls including treatment and transport of AIDS patients.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for clarifying. I do not see how the mentioned details could give him Chlamydia unless he had an outside sexual encounter. Talk to him directly.
