Brief Answer:
Nuvaring is safe and effective while treating a vaginal yeast infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

Medical studies have been performed on using NuvaRing with many over-the-counter yeast infection preparations at the same time. The studies found that temporarily, while using a vaginal east infection product, your serum estrogen levels maybe slightly higher than when they would normally be on the Nuvaring. However, this effect does not make the contraceptive less effective, or put you with any additional health risks.

Studies did show that the blood level of increased estrogen was more likely to result from using suppositories, rather than a cream base product. A 3 to 7 day cream preparation would be your best choice for an antifungal cream to treat your use infection with Nuvaring in place.

I hope that I was able to adequately answer your question today, and that my device was helpful. If you need any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes,

Dr. Brown
