Can Cymbalta Be Taken Life Long?

Question: I am taking Cymbalta daily at 120 MG 2 a day. 60mg 1 at bedtime amd 1 in the morning. Is this safe to take for the rest of my life. I've recently tries to wean off of Cymbalta but it was very hard. I could not deal with the bad side effects. So I called my Psychitrist and she told me to go back on Cymbalta. Is this ok to take for the rest of my life. My age is 49 years old. I a a male caucasion.
Brief Answer:
there is no major problem, may continue taking it
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Yes, if there are no major side effects, and you are keepig fine on it- it is wise to conitnue.
Stopping altogether may pose more problem. However, one may try to taper the dose and therby may find a lower effective dose.
There are better options for long term use like : sertraline, escitalopram..where patient had any cariac history- hypertension or CAD. Otherwise cymblata is good.
Hope the reply is useful for you
