Can Cytoxan And Taxotere Be Taken Together?
No
Detailed Answer:
Hello there.Welcome to healthcaremagic.
I am Dr.Senduran,General physician answering your query.
I wouldn't recommend this chemotherapy regimen in a patient of colitis because of the drug texotere (Docetaxel) a mitotic inhibitor. This drug has the potential to cause ischaemic colitis, colitis associated with neutropenia and cases has been reported already. So in a patient with preexisting colitis, this drug can further worsen the condition.Alternate treatment plan would be a better option. In case,if its the final option atleast the chemo cycle with lowest possible effective dosage should be considered with careful observation. Hope this answers your query. If any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Wish you good health..Take care.
Unlikely...
Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
Thank you for the follow up query.
The exacerbations by this combo mostly should resolve within a month after the completion of chemo cycles.Longterm issues are unlikely because of its dose limiting toxicity I.e if concentration of drug decreases in the system, the symptoms decreases and resolves. However careful observation with weekly blood work while on this regimen and managing the acute flares of colitis should be warrantied. In case of unacceptable toxicity like bowel perforation, hemorrhage refractory to treatment etc,the chemo regimen should be stopped.A low dose of weekly chemo with high recovery period would be a better option in your case which is less toxic.Hope this answers your query.
Take care.
Wish you a speedy recovery and good health.
