Can Digoxin Or Metoprolol Cause Urinary Incontinence?
Question: can digoxin or metropolol cause urinary incontinence; have been prescribed both drugs for about 5 years. Treated for prostate cancer 4 years ago with radiation. Everything seemed fine, PSA down to 0.5. 3 weeks ago I developed sudden urinary incontinence; very disturbing...;
Brief Answer:
Metoprolol possible cause
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Metoprolol and other beta blockers are known to cause urinary incontinence since these relax smooth muscles of urethra and bladder.
So, you should try Kegels exercises which are available over the internet or reduce dosage of metoprolol after consultation with your doctor. Also, you may switch to another drug if that doesn't help. Digoxin is less likely to cause it.
If you have any further doubts/ clarifications, you may get back to me.
Wish you good health. Regards
