Can Doxycycline Be Taken For Upper Respiratory Infection?

Please advise
Yes, better to take Doxycyclin.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on HealthcareMagic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you should take Doxycyclin.
Cold is mostly due to viral infection and viral infection heal by its own.
Antibiotics are needed to prevent secondary bacterial infection.
So no need to take a higher antibiotic.
Better to take Doxycyclin.
Also, do warm water gargles 5-6 times a day. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
Avoid hard to chew food. Avoid junk food. Avoid oily and spicy food.
Continue cold medicines.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.

If it is a prescription med. and since I don't have a doctor that I see all the time. What do you recommend.
I may be on the back end of this so I will give it another day or two. I worry about the effect up in my sinuses. in retrospect that drainage never really seems to go away. If the is some kind of sinus issue it would not hurt to take the medication to eliminate any issues in that area.
What is your advice??
You need prescription for doxycyclin.

Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Doxycyclin is antibiotic and you will need prescription for this.
This won't be available over the counter.
And antibiotics you have (liquamycin and baytril) are mainly for pets, not for humans.
So continue cold medicines, warm water gargles and steam inhalation 4-5 times a day and wait for improvement.
If you are not improving then you need to consult doctor for antibiotic prescription.
