Posted on Mon, 25 Sep 2017
Question: I have pcos, last month my period came on 23, this month I started taking femilon from 19 th and from 21st I'm having spotting. I read that spotting is a common side effect of oc pills but I'm finding it embarrassing. Could it Be that I'm getting the normal period ( last month 23) even after starting femilon? Shall I have this spotting till I finish the pill pack?

I have stopped taking femilon from 28th and having moderate bleeding now but I have this fear that it won't stop by itself as in past I had to take medicine to stop bleeding , please help

Brief Answer:
It will stop on its own.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

The spotting that started is suggestive of a normal period. You should have started femilon form day 5 - 28th of last month.

Now that you have stopped taking do wait for at least 5-7 days and see if the bleeding stops on its own. Normal period usually stops on its own in few days. In case the bleeding continues or is heavy then consult a gynecologist for proper medicines.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.

Wishing you good health.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Pause MF and Femilon will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing again.

If the bleeding is persistent then you can have tablets like Pause MF twice a day and restart taking Femilon after 5 days. If the bleeding still persists then stronger prescription medicines will be needed.

Hope my answer is helpful.

Usually lasts for 5-7 days.

Withdrawal bleeding usually lasts for 5-7 days. This can be your regular period also. Just relax and do start with Tranexa in case you are passing clots daily.
