Can Flutivate Skin Cream Be Used Safely For A Long Duration?

Question: Hi doctor , i was using flutivate cream(Orange pack) for past 3 years. My skin was brighter and it was evenly toned.Then I stopped using it my skin became too dull and darker and even skin has become unevenly tonned. So please guide me can I continue using flutivate cream so that my skin become fairer and evenly tonned or please tell me the cream which can I use to improve my complexion.

You should immediately stop using flutivate cream as it is a steroid and not meant to be used on the face for improving the complexion of the face. It can lead to various side effects like thinning of skin, redness, pimples and increased hair growth if used for long duration of time. Steroids also lead to dependancy as seen in your case. Till the time you are using them your skin will look brighter and the moment you stop them your skin will start looking dark.
If you want to improve your complexion start using a high spf sunscreen on your entire face at intervals of 3-4 hours during the day time. At night I recommend my patients to use a cream containing combination of vitamin C and kojic acid on one night and serum containing vitamin C on alternate night.
Besides this avoid direct sunexposure and make use of umbrella, sunglasses and scarf whenever out in the sun.

Thank you so much for your suggestion doctor. Kindly mention the names of creams for high spf sunscreen, Vitamin C and for Kojic Acid. And will it make my skin complexion improve faster or will it take long tenure and Kindly suggest me creams for even tone skin. As my face is unevenly tonned near nose and around mouth.

Welcome dear!! I suggest you to use lashield sunscreen gel as a regular sunscreen. Many brands are available containing kojic acid and vitamin C combination like clearz cream or radant KC cream. Both are equally good. You can choose between either of the two. Regarding vitamin C serum you can go for VC 15 serum from cipla company. These treatments will improve your complexion as well as skin tone but they need to be continued for a long time preferably 3-4 months and then you can revert for follow up.
