default
Posted on Tue, 21 Nov 2017
Question: question about Fosamax or Fosomax. I WAS TAKNG FOSAMAX FOR 3 OR 4 YEARS IN 2006 ENDING IN 2007. l LEARNED THAT IT CREATES NEW BONE, BUT MAY ADD NEW BONE TO THE NECK OR THROAT. I NOW HEAR AND FEEL CRACKING NOISES IN MY THROAT AND NECK WHEN CHEWING FOOD. ANY REMEDIES FOR THAT?

Brief Answer:
Foam prevents bone loss but doesn’t create new bone!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this worry. Fosamax only works to conserve your bone mass and reduce speed of loss as opposed to causing new bone growth. This cracking noises cannot be related to fosamax at this time.

Is this cracking noise painful? Does it hurt? For how long has this been going on?

If this noise is accompanied by pain, I will recommend you get an X-ray to review the boned of the jaw and neck. If there is no pain, watch further to see if it resolves spontaneous or not before further measures are undertaken.

I hope this guides. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.
