Can Gaviscon Help With Pain And Vomiting When Suffering From Chronic Pancreatitis?
Question: I suffer from Auto immune Gastritis and Chronic Pancreatitis with constant stone formations. Will gaviscon help with my excruciating pain and vomiting till I can get to my GI doctor for help.
Brief Answer:
Acidity
Detailed Answer:
Good evening XXXXXXX
thank you for writing on health care magic.
If you are experiencing severe pain and vomiting, kindly visit the ER as soon as you can. Gaviscon can help relieve the acidity a bit as it contains the aluminium which gives coating over the stomach, but it wont help in the vomiting. If you have another medicine like Pantaprozole or Domperidom, you can take them as it will control the acidity and vomiting.
Where exactly is the pain. Is it in the center radiating to your back or just the center.?
I will still say do visit your ER as you shouldnt ignore the pain abdomen in Pancreatitis
Do let me know for more queries. I am available till you meet your doctor

Also stomach very distended
Brief Answer:
Epigastric Pain
Detailed Answer:
Good evening XXXXXXX Well the sort of pain you are describing could be due to pancreatitis itself. I will suggest you consult the ER at the earliest, to rule out any acute attack of pancreatitis. Try taking an antacid( pantaprozole or something) which should help in reducing the distension.
