Question: Can Guaifenesin make your heart rate increase? I took some Mucinex (just the regular release tablets. 600mg) and once I got home I noticed on my watch that my heart rate had jumped.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service!

I understand your concern and would explain that guaifenesin does not increase the heart rate as a known adverse effect.

But the increased heart rate could be explained by different possible causes: physical activity, anxiety, inflammation (you are already taking an expectorant for an upper airway infection).

However, there is no reason to panic. Guaifenesin is quite safe!

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
