10 Months old, yesterday night baby done severe vomtings nearly 6 times.due to this morning she get fever of 101 F.after consulting doctor he has suggested gudcef 50 for infection.
Brief Answer:
No need for antibiotic
Detailed Answer:
Hi
The most likely reason for these symptoms is a self limiting viral illness. It needs symptomatic treatment and it usually improve in few days. In case fever persists for more than 3 days and the child appears lethargic then go for blood test (CBC, CRP) before starting antibiotics such as Gudcef 50. There is no need for Gudcef at present.
At present, I would recommend you to start the following measures:
1. Syp. Ondansetrone or Domperidone for vomiting episodes.
2. Give Syp. Crocin or Paracetamol for fever spikes which are more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. You may repeat the dose after 6 hours if fever persists. Also, cold sponging will be helpful.
3. Ensure regular feeds and fluids to maintain hydration.
Hopefully it will be of help. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care
